PLACES TO VISIT

High atop a hill in Karak there lays an important religious shrine dedicated to the Prophet Noah. Built in honour of the Prophet’s work as a messenger of God, the shrine commemorates Noah’s mission to warn the people about the consequences of not following the word of God.

According to the religious scriptures, God visited Noah and warned him about the flood that would come and destroy all life on Earth because of the wickedness that had taken over the people. God asked Noah to build an ark and ensure that two of each species were on board in order for the regeneration of the earth to complete itself.

The story of Prophet Noah is important to all religions and is mentioned in both in the Torah and the Holy Quran. The shrine in Karak is one of the locations where the tomb of the prophet is speculated to be making it an important pilgrimage site for religious tourists to Jordan.
