PLACES TO VISIT

Located deep in the heart of the stunning mountainous Dana Biosphere Reserve, Wadi Feynan is home to one of the best kept secrets in Jordan – Feynan Ecolodge.

Completely unique in its boutique eco lodge niche in Jordan, Feynan Ecolodge is like nothing else in the country and offers guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience they will never forget. Owned and managed by EcoHotels and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), the eco lodge was set up to promote environmentally sustainable and socially responsible tourism in the desert region and since its completion in 2009, has been voted as one of the best 25 eco lodges in the world by National Geographic Traveler Magazine.

The whole lodge operates on solar power and as dusk, when the sun dips behind the steep walls of the valley, hundreds of candles light the traditionally designed yellow sandstone building. The work of local craftsmen and women is evident throughout the resort, from the ornate details on the linen, to the handmade natural olive oil soaps.

Set against the impressive desert landscape, the 26-room lodge is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful untouched natural surrounding area. A wealth of hiking trails through the awe inspiring desert scenery are available for visitors including a sunrise and sunset hike, a visit to the close by byzantine copper mines, a full day hike in Wadi Dana or Wadi Ghwayer – one of the most breath-taking surprises you can find in an arid region.
