Mansaf: The national dish of Jordan, Mansaf is a celebratory meal, of lamb cooked in fermented, dried yogurt, served on a huge platter in the centre of the table and shared with all diners who eat it using bread in the place of plates or cutlery.
Falafel sandwiches: An easy, cheap and delicious snack on the go, falafel sandwiches are usually made to go at street stalls and topped off with tomato, hummus and spicy red sauce.
Shwarma: The meat lover’s answer to falafel, the Jordanian shwarma is the original kebab. Stalls selling this either chicken, lamb or beef shwarma can be found on every street corner and make a tasty treat any time of the day.
Kanafeh: One of the richest foods of Jordan, Kanafeh is a delicious combination of cheese baked in the oven with a sweet butter and rose water until its golden and crispy on top and soft and creamy in the middle.
